Well its Friday

Image
And it has been nearly a week since I arrived in South Africa. And it has been quite the week, Saturday not much happened as John Cottier and myself arrived at about 6pm at our new African home. So we just ate some pizza and unpacked. Our Flat The Rest of the Compound The View from our Porch (photo John Cottier) Sunday we woke up and went directly to church then spent most of the rest of the day relaxing and getting some school work done. Monday we decided to play some soccer with some South Africans and I was soundly whipped! I did however manage to get a terrific sunburn. My skin was used to sitting at home with the frequent blizzards and 500 ft elevation, not the tail end of summer with an elevation of 5750ft! We spent the rest of the day getting ahead on school work because on Tuesday we left for camp. Its the.....Final....Countdown

These past few days..no weeks have been pure insanity as final and not so final preparations have been completed. March 18, Friday, ....2 days, 48 hours, I will be on a plane on my way to South Africa. These past few weeks I have been finishing up paper work, slowly packing, and mostly saying good bye to close friends and family that I will not see for 2 years. I will fly from Albany Airport to, D.C. and by 6 pm on friday I will be on a non stop flight well on my way towards South Africa! As you may have read before camp is starting on the 22nd although I am not 100% sure about everything that I will be doing for camp I do know it will involve program, counseling, doing skits and possibly lifeguarding. I am very excited to be getting started in Africa. Although I am heading over I am still not quite at full support. I am currently at about 40% of my support with close to $500 coming in each month. This leaves about $600 more that I will need each month in order to stay the full 2 y...

Missions Conference

Image
Currently I am at the Word of Life Bible Institute for the annual Missions Conference! I am here with 18 other Word of Life Interns, we are all going to different countries for 2 years with Word of Life.  While we are here we are having practical training classes for how to adapt to a new culture and what we need to be doing when we move to a new country. I am also working on a third news letter to send out. We are living with the students in the dorms and going to meetings with them as well. While we are here we have the chance to hear speakers like Tom Mahairas, Ron Bishop, and Kris Stout. It is a time that we can focus on getting things done and not be distracted. This is a picture of all the International Interns with Word of Life Things have been going well for support as there is now $2,887.50 raised towards my trip with about $300 coming in monthly. Please continue to pray for support to come in as I am heavily dependent upon The Lord to bring it all in. I do not have a...

This Week

Image
This past week has been one of both jolly old times and regretful news. This Baby is Jolly The Blessing of Nature This week has been jolly because I am first off far more blessed by God than I ever deserve and am growing in His abundant grace. I was blessed this week especially by the beginning of break from online classes. Being able to continue my education is great, but everyone enjoys a break from the mundane reading and deadlines hanging over your head. I was blessed recently by getting Rosetta Stone in the mail to learn Portuguese, I will be able to spend more time learning Portuguese now. The Phone I wish I could talk on This week I also had the rare opportunity to talk to Mr. Matt Melville on the phone. It was great to be able to talk to one of the head men at the HQ however he had some news that was less stellar. Due to lack of monthly supporters I will not be able to depart in January. My new target date has been moved to March, it is depressing that I will not b...

Blessings From God

In the past 2 weeks since my last update it has been a busy time that God has blessed. Shortly after posting the last update I was contacted by several people who wished to support my ministry. God has brought my total to up to $1,902.50! Tomorrow night I will have an opportunity to go to a friends church and help out with a kids event there. The kids will be raising some support for my ministry! I was also able to see some friends from the BI who now work at a local church This last weekend. On Saturday we were able to go caroling at two nursing homes. When I was a kid I did not like to go to nursing homes or to go caroling because I am not musically inclined. I had a lot of fun this time and was glad to be able to minister with close friends. God has also blessed me because I have picked up more hours at work, and Liberty classes end this week! Please pray for me to be a good example to those I work with. Please also pray for my health and support. I have gotten the flu twice thi...
