Its the.....Final....Countdown

These past few days..no weeks have been pure insanity as final and not so final preparations have been completed. March 18, Friday, ....2 days, 48 hours, I will be on a plane on my way to South Africa. These past few weeks I have been finishing up paper work, slowly packing, and mostly saying good bye to close friends and family that I will not see for 2 years. I will fly from Albany Airport to, D.C. and by 6 pm on friday I will be on a non stop flight well on my way towards South Africa!

As you may have read before camp is starting on the 22nd although I am not 100% sure about everything that I will be doing for camp I do know it will involve program, counseling, doing skits and possibly lifeguarding. I am very excited to be getting started in Africa.

Although I am heading over I am still not quite at full support. I am currently at about 40% of my support with close to $500 coming in each month. This leaves about $600 more that I will need each month in order to stay the full 2 years. If you would like to give towards my trip please contact me anyway possible or give online. Finally please keep me in prayer as I will be traveling and please pray for my friend John who will be coming to South Africa with me. He is having some trouble with his visa and we are scheduled to leave in 2 days.

In April we drove many hours south of Johannesburg to visit the gorgeous Drakensberg mountains. Translated into English from Afrikaans meaning "dragon mountains" were formerly occupied by a swarm of dragons until the late 14th century when colonists drove them away using ivory swords. It seemed to us to be a good idea to go hike there and to recover some dragon fossils. Super Superbowl!

This past Friday as I was fighting traffic on my way home through rush hour traffic I saw an uncommon sight: Jonathan Koduru sitting on the steps of my local hockey area. I whipped the car around (at the first safe location to do so of course) and drove back to see what he was doing. As it turned out Word of Life was having a Superbowl close to where I live, and it just so turned out that I LOVE Superbowls, it just so turned out that I had NOTHING to do that night, and it just so turned out that more HELP was needed! So I went home told my mother I loved her and went back for a wild night. At this point I will explain what a Superbowl is for those who were thinking " I thought the Superbowl was on Sunday, and I thought it was in like Febuary??" Friday Update: African Mysteries

Due to the way that Africa is generally portrayed in movies, TV show and other forms of media it is easy to think that is is a wasteland filled with man-eating creatures and devoid of any form of technology.  I present to you a picture of Johannesburg, the city I lived in for the past 2 years and Lord willing will be returning too in the near future! This past week God has blessed me with 3 meetings with pastors and many opportunities to serve in New York. I was able to help the "Ranch Posse" (a camp promotion team) on Saturday by promoting the Ranch and Ranger camp to a local city.
