Mike who is one of the full time missionaries here has recently acquired the task of creating events for the sunday school children of his local church once a term. This term I worked with him on a scavenger hunt. For this hunt the kids had 3 church member's houses they needed to travel to and once they were there they had to complete a blind maze, an obstacle course or some mental puzzles (depending on what house they were at). They also had a list of things they needed to photograph or collect. If they completed their tasks sufficiently and if they found certain things they could then trade them in for trinkets that they would use to decorate a potato. The team with the best potato was the winner! Here are some kids with there giant potatoes All good obstacle courses start with spinning your head on a bat Counseling some kids after the gospel message Puzzle station "find someones
In April we drove many hours south of Johannesburg to visit the gorgeous Drakensberg mountains. Translated into English from Afrikaans meaning "dragon mountains" were formerly occupied by a swarm of dragons until the late 14th century when colonists drove them away using ivory swords. It seemed to us to be a good idea to go hike there and to recover some dragon fossils. Our group just before we began the hike As we stopped to replenish our supplies (aka get petrol(aka gasoline)) we saw a Ford GT40, which so happens to be my fathers favorite car. The pictures basically tell the story from here. Smooth drive for a while Our destination Happy little cloud Slippery and steep Super safe/fun/scary chain ladders The top was wide and flat Over a mile straight down PS- We did not find any dragons

It has a very diverse landscape with huge mountain ranges, grassy plains, nearly jungle conditions, and plenty of beaches. There are two landlocked countries within South Africa's borders. One which is completely encompassed. Map of South Africa Unfortunately, it is ranked among the top 10 countries for income inequality and it is obvious to see the huge gap between the rich and the poor. Hout Bay and Imizamo Yethu, Cape Town I live just outside Johannesburg which is the largest city in South Africa. It is at a higher elevation than Denver, CO and is known for its mines and as a business hub. Johannesburg Skyline Mine in Johannesburg The specific area is known as Muldersdrift and it has many farms and wedding venues. It can feel very rural and remote although it's just a ...
